Hello all, I was going to be very happy to announce that today would have been the day we'd have made live our latest A320-X update release for Prepar3D v4. Instead, I'm going to ask for 'just a little more patience' and apologize in advance, because I am not (yet) at liberty to say why this update will have to wait for a few more days. The delay is necessary and outside of our control - those of you who can connect the dots will do so very soon, I am sure! We are all quite aware that this is a very anticipated release and the excitement is real around the Labs as well! There is good reason for this: The upcoming A320-X update carries several logic, performance and stability improvements, but it also allows us to showcase some entirely new and, if we may say so, very powerful dynamic effects capabilities in Prepar3D v4 that we've developed in the past months that are 'truly never seen before' (tm). I'd like this excitement to become contagious, so I will not say much more. However, as a way of saying 'thank you' for your continued patience, I'd like to share what is included in this upcoming update, as well as a few news tidbits about our upcoming releases.
Now that the P3Dv2 NDA has been lifted (and with the announcement of its imminent release), we can comment (a little bit) on this topic, as follows: We're still looking into whether it would be viable for FSLabs to invest in making the Concorde-X P3Dv2-compatible. While the good folks at LM have done everything possible to make v2.0 backward compatible with 1.4 (and FSX), there are quite a few areas where the Concorde-X product has FSX-specific requirements and needs so that it can function as well as it does (some might call it 'hacks' into FSX code - we shy away from such terms of endearment). On top of this, LM have done quite a good job with memory management, but there's also a lot of additional features and options that have been added (not to mention the all-new DirectX 11 graphics management) which make predicting OOM behavior quite impossible, as there are simply too many factors at play here and, while I can't quote the discussions verbatim, there are quite a few areas in legacy code that still need attention before everybody would be satisfied that OOM issues have been resolved. As such, we'll keep our existing policy regarding Prepar3d and the Concorde-X for the time being. If and when more news comes on this topic, I'll be certain to inform everyone. The system (VAS) memory footprint per tree was reduced from 276 bytes to 16 bytes (that is a 17x reduction in system memory per tree). Some of the work previously done each frame was completely eliminated while other work was reduced or moved onto background threads and the GPU (graphics card). Visually, trees can now LOD (Level of Detail) in progressively while still scaling in to prevent popping. Random rotation of trees was also fixed which means that trees will be more varied looking and will again load in at the full density near the camera. The picture below details the changes made to the autogen system in Prepar3D v2.2.
The red to yellow effect shows the trees progressively loading and scaling in. System memory usage is displayed to show the autogen memory has been reduced 17x. A max autogen default flight has had it’s system memory reduced by over 550 megabytes.
I really think that can be of a real help for Concorde-X users. I tried SSTSIM Concorde, instead of Concorde-X, to install into P3D V2.2. You can fly the bird!! I first installed SSTSIM Concorde into FS9. Then placed copies of folders from FS9 to P3D as follows: #1.
Copy sstsim gauge folder 'Flight Simulator 9 Gauges SSTSIM' as 'Prepar3D v2 Gauges SSTSIM'. Copy concorde aircraft folders such as 'Flight Simulator 9 Aircraft BAe-Concorde' as 'Prepar3D v2 SimObjects Airplanes BAe-Concorde'. Copy 'Flight Simulator 9 SSTSIM' as 'Prepar 3d v2 3rd Party SSTSIM'. Install FSUIPC for p3d. Install CIVA. I'm not sure about the effectiveness of the steps #3,#4 and #5.
I 've been struggling with FSUIPC 's version issue for several days and not yet with CIVA software. The ntdll.dll and other dll fault issues have not been solved yet, either. But as a trial, I could fly my concorde in P3D!! My eyes were flooded with saline, for I had been in love with the bird since the day I saw her, for the first and the last time in my life, through the 747's window above the Atlantic Ocean.

I'm new here I want to buy the Concorde-X, i only have X-Plane 10 and P3Dv2 and i'm certainly not willing to buy FSX (afaik FSX is a dead/unmaintained project and everyone i know on FSX is slowly moving to P3D). I never bought any plane for P3Dv2 (i only have the default planes) and this one is first on my wishlist. I bought the Migration Tools from flightsim estonia that 'fake' an FSX installation. The problem is: i don't understand the current status of the Concorde-X on P3Dv2.
Does it works but it's not supported? Does it works and it's supported? Does it works 'sometimes'? It doesn't works at all? It works only using the migration tools?
